Judges’ comment “An innovative approach to solving an affordable housing needMid Devon District Council has worked closely with Zed Pods to design, obtain planning permission for and build 14 high-quality, highly energy-efficient, social-rented modular homes over two sites at underutilised council-owned garage sites.

Both projects are pioneering, environmental and socially focused modern methods of construction-led housing developments. They demonstrate how precision manufacturing can be used to build innovative housing and address the need for affordable, climate-resilient accommodation while ensuring it can be delivered in an economically viable way in difficult market conditions.
