Judges’ comment “An exemplar initiative driven by the site team working with a local homelessness charity”

One in 74 people in Manchester is homeless and the Vinci project team on the New Victoria Residential Development in the city centre decided to help by transforming site welfare accommodation which was unused over the Christmas period into a pop-up drop-in for homeless people and those in crisis.

Hot meals, companionship, medical and personal care, shower facilities, veterinary care and other amenities were available with the aim of reducing isolation and bringing people together over the Christmas period.

Partners in the project included Vinci Construction UK, Muse Developments, PIC, Lifeshare, Chroma, Walker Sime, Arup, Haalo and WSP.
