HLM Architects – eDigiT2Life Research and Development

Judges’ comment “This innovation will have a wider influence across the whole of the built environment”eDigiT2Life is an Innovate UK-funded research and development project where HLM, IES, the University of Glasgow and Sciencescope collaborated to develop and trial a digital twin of the university’s property estate. It evolved from compliance building models to an operational digital twin of buildings.

Using the university’s extensive estate which includes a variety of buildings constructed between 1885 and 2022, the research team looked to assess current performance across whole building lifecycles and investigate options for improvement.

The eDigiT2Life project innovates in the technical methodology to evolve the digital twin and in the business model used to commercialise its adoption and proliferation.
