Engineer sets out safer cities for women views on ICE website

Understanding the needs of women and girls is one way to make cities safer, according to WSP principal consultant Susan Leadbetter. She has written an ICE Community Blog about making cities safer for women on the ICE website.

She says lighting, visibility, space activation and maintenance are elements that professionals who shape infrastructure and the built environment can consider to prioritise safety, security, and equality.

Designing for clear sightlines and open spaces can also help.
