ICE invites entries to 2023 Merit game

The ICE is encouraging young engineers to sign up for the chance to see what it is like to own and run their own construction company.

The 2023 Management, Enterprise, Risk, Innovation and Teamwork (Merit) competition is now open for registration.

Online game teaches management skills

The competition is supported by the ICE’s management board.

Competitors will take part in a web-based computer simulation which allows them to run their own construction company. In groups of four, they will act as a board of directors and managers to experience potential future roles.

Taking part enables young engineers to prepare for career progression in the industry and there are opportunities for participants to learn about company, business and financial management.

The game gives participants the chance to learn more about themselves and the industry they work in.

The competition encourages young civil engineers to challenge their thinking and their approach to people skills to the practicalities of managing a business.

It also gives them experience of higher level decision making in senior management roles.
