ICE names new group finance director

The ICE has announced changes to the director general’s board.

Calum Mercer has been appointed ICE group finance director. Mercer was selected from a strong field of candidates and has held several board level posts over a 20-year period.

He joins the ICE from the Royal College of Psychiatrists where he was director of finance and operations.

Mercer has extensive experience in dealing with a variety of stakeholders and tax regimes having worked in the business and charity sectors.

He takes over the role from Simon Leicester, starting on 6 November.

In addition, membership director Séan Harris will take on the additional role of deputy director general. One Great George Street director Gary Payne has been appointed as the ICE’s chief operating officer.

The ICE said these changes will enhance its ability to continue providing a voice for civil engineers and help members maintain their professional competence, allowing them to create safe, sustainable and resilient infrastructure for generations to come.
